Mercier Therapy – Fertility Visceral Treatment

Mercer Therapy—a specialization of Visceral Osteopathy—is an excellent way to increase your chances of conceiving, especially in conjunction with other procedures guided by your physician. Using special osteopathic techniques, this visceral manipulation can increases organ mobility and decreases mucous viscosity. Fertility osteopathy is non-invasive, safe and gentle! By helping to reduce mucous viscosity, this treatment can be an important component of your fertility program. Typical protocol requires 6 treatments.

Why Mercier Therapy?

It typically starts with cramps and pain. A women’s first awareness to her pelvic and sexual organs typically begin when her menstruation begins. Frequently that is accompanied by cramps, pain and bloating. What then ensues is an attempt to deaden the sensation to our pelvis. This self-preserving technique seems to work through most of our teen and young adult years. We take pain meds, ignore the problem, and maybe take birth control to help deal with pain and the possible irregularity of our cycles.
We ignore our pelvis and the organs within and only pay them mind in a negative way when we are tired of cramping or bleeding.
But now you’ve reached the age where you want to get pregnant. And perhaps it hasn’t been as easy as you thought it was going to be and suddenly you’re forced to bring awareness to our pelvis and the organs within. We again associate our reproductive organs with negativity. Why aren’t the organs working like they are supposed to? Why does it seem that you will need every intervention to become pregnant? Why does this hurt so much?
Suddenly, we become acutely aware of what doesn’t seem to be doing its job. But how do we fix the function? How can we coax our ovaries and uterus to open up, cycle naturally and ultimately, grow life? Is it possible to do this without medical intervention?
Mercier Therapy aims to change both the function and the negative associations. By manipulating the tissues, blood flow, scar tissue and pelvic tension are all addressed. The treatment begins with warming the tissues, evaluating your organ position, and ultimately, enhancing blood flow and function. Your Mercier Therapist has two goals: one psychological and one physical. The therapy aims to develop a healthy awareness of your reproductive organs and, through visceral manipulation, heal and prepare the uterus for conception.

It’s Time to Prioritize Yourself

Fertility

Mercier Therapy is both an alternative and a complementary treatment for infertility. It is safe and natural. The main component is between 6 and 12 hands-on sessions lasting up to 60 minutes. These sessions focus on the uterus, ovaries and their supporting structures. After a reproductive consultation we will decide if Mercier Therapy is a good fit for you. In addition to the hands on Mercier Therapy treatment, we will discuss the most common nutritional and lifestyle alterations that need to be made. This can vary from things as simple as gratitude journals and stretching to things as complex as supplements, dietary changes and possibly bio identical hormones. The truth is, reproduction is complex. It takes time and a commitment to see changes.

Pelvic Pain

Sometimes there is a diagnosis, and sometimes there isn’t. This is one of the most frustrating things about pelvic pain. Whether the pain is associated with menstruation, ovulation or it is consistent and persistent; there isn’t always a clear answer. The MD or OB/Gyn may have sent you to a PT or you may have tried medications. Often this helps, but it may not have been the final answer. Time and again, the answer lies in the adhesions. Adhesions are scar tissue that acts like a glue and holds organs, muscles and tendons together too tightly. Your organs should glide against each other with every breath you take. These adhesions inhibit blood flow and the function of the nervous system and organs.

Adhesions

Adhesions may be created by:

  • Abdominal or pelvic surgery

  • Pain or cramps in abdomen or groin

  • Pain with sitting or with sexual intercourse

  • Pelvic inflammatory disease, bladder or yeast infections

  • Physical trauma or vehicle accident

  • Physical or sexual abuse

  • Physical PMS symptoms, vaginitis, cystitis, colitis, other pelvic inflammations

  • Back or hip surgery

  • Endometriosis, sexually transmitted disease, IUD

  • Fall onto hip, buttocks, or tailbone

  • Low back, hip, or leg pain

Book a Mercier Treatment

Similar to how we would massage a low back for muscle pain or release shoulder adhesions for a frozen shoulder, Mercier Therapy works to release the adhesions of the uterus and ovaries.
